TNT Track & Field Academy combines education oriented instruction with event specific technical guidance to ensure our athletes are prepared for future competition.
Meet our Director, Brandon Stryganek
During this time, the Academy has seen over Thirty USATF All-Americans, Three National Champions, and has helped to develop Twenty-three current collegiate athletes.
One of the pillars of what our Academy stands on is education. Whether it’s classroom sessions going over proper angles in a block start or recruiting seminars with parents, the goal remains the same. We wish to help our parents & athletes understand this great sport and how to take the next step.
Summer Competition Season (June & July)
Competition readiness
Event specific technical instruction
Race modeling & tactical education
Recruiting & Wellness seminars
Especially with Covid eliminating full competition seasons our objective during the Summer is to get our Academy athletes on the track and competing. We will conduct small seminars throughout the Summer about elements such as recruiting, sleep habits, nutrition and hydration so that we can continue to build proper off-track habits. We practice at both TNT & Harper college so we can focus on sustaining the Speed & Power elements that were built in-season. Our athletes train five days per week and the Summer competition season is eight weeks long if all events are qualified for. Practice sessions revolve around getting our athletes ready to compete while helping them to understand the basic technical elements of their events.
Off-season (August through January)
Identify & eliminate structural and mechanical deficiencies
Improve functional strength qualities
Enhance explosive outputs during early acceleration
Engrain proper technical qualities at top-end speed
This is where we close the gap. Our primary objective during the off-season is to identify & eliminate structural and mechanical deficiencies to better understand how to train each individual athlete. With TNT’s recent acquisition of Hawkin Dynamics’ Force Plate there is no guesswork in where an athlete’s data stands in comparison to their peers. Education is always at the forefront of our sessions, helping our athletes to grasp “what” they’re doing and “why” they’re doing it is crucial in their holistic development. Our athletes practice at TNT three to five times per week during the off-season, which traditionally ends right around Martin Luther King Jr. Day each year.
In-season (January through May)
Maintain functional strength qualities
Develop a well-rounded recovery routine
Video sessions on race modeling and competition tactics
Confident & healthy are the two primary objectives for our in-season sessions. These are dependent on what the athlete completed at their High School practice and are to be utilized to supplement what they are doing there. Our athletes have full access to recovery modalities such as our Infrared Sauna, Normatec Recovery Boots and our Hyperice mobility tools. Mechanical refinement and maintaining our strength levels throughout the Spring season are also a point of emphasis. Our athletes practice two to four times per week depending on their High School meet schedule.
